A long overdue update
Dear customers old and new,
It has been a long time since we have posted here. We have been very busy with long running commissions. Apologies to all that have contacted us about new work that we have been unable to take on.
In the new year we may be able to open the diary for new commissions. Watch this space!
Alongside many other businesses, we have increased our prices. This is the first rise since 2021 and has been necessary due to inflation. The business simply wouldn't be sustainable without an increase.
Many thanks for all of your support!

End of year 2022
Dear customers old and new,
Thank you for trusting us with your miniatures this year. We have really traversed the breadth of wargaming this year, from chariots of the Bronze Age to fantasy RPG characters via thousands of Napoleonics and 6mm ancients.
Obligations to ongoing projects has meant that we have had the books closed to new enquiries for the majority of the year. Turning down work never gets any easier but trying to over-promise would be worse! To that end, the books are staying closed for now until existing commitments are completed.
Alas, the whole family has been hit by a bad cold this week but hopefully a break for Christmas and New Year will have us re-energised for picking up the brushes again in January.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year,
Ruaridh and Julia

Diary closed to new bookings
Hi everyone,
The year got off to a bad start with a bout of Covid that subsequently put us weeks behind schedule. We are thankful for the patience of our clients during the last couple of months where we have been getting back up to pace. We had planned to announce in March that we would be taking on new bookings for the second quarter, but a lot of 1st Q work and our continuing long term project committments mean that we are not looking to take on any new bookings for the forseeable. I don't doubt that this is disappointing news, and it is hard to say no to possible work but we need to keep things manageable for our wee team.

Opening the diary for 2022 and a price rise
Dear customers old and new,
What a busy year we have had. An amazing number of you have been in contact asking us to paint your models. It's been really humbling to have been in demand! Our 2021 diary was completely full by March, which was a wonderful surprise. Next year, to keep things manageable, we have decided to book only a few months in advance. The first quarter of 2022 has been set aside for some continuing painting projects from this year, but in March (and possibly February if we hit the ground running in the new year), we will welcome bookings for the second quarter of 2022. Watch the website for our announcement.
As a small caveat to that, if you have a small project of no more than 20 x 28mm miniatures or equivalent (more smaller scale, fewer larger scale) feel free to drop us a line. We can't promise anything, but a little project can be nice to help break up a big commission and stop painter's burnout.
Please note our new email address: cullodenpaintingstudio@gmail.com - the previous email was becoming too unreliable when trying to send images of models, so we have begun migrating across to this Gmail account. Please add it to your address books.
Before we sign off we would like to make everyone aware that we are making our first price rise in 18 months too. Details of the updated costs are available on the Services & Prices page.
Thank you all for your continuing support!

Booked up for 2021!
Dear customers old and new, thank you for all your enquiries and bookings. We have now filled the diary for the whole of 2021. As a result, I am putting a hold on accepting new work for now. If we have been in discussion about your project already, or we have been working on some of your models as part of a sequence of commissions with the expectation of taking future bookings, we are including them in our diary calculations.
If you have any queries please email us at cullodenpaintingstudio@mail.com

Overseas customs and handling charges, and diary availability
Dear customers old and new, 2021 has rolled around it is the end of January already. After the end of the Brexit withdrawal agreement customers from the EU may find themselves being charged for customs and handling fees when receiving models. Conversely, any fees that Culloden Painting Studio need to pay when being sent models to paint will be added to customer invoices. Please be aware when ordering a commission that these costs may apply. This brings customers from the EU in line with those from the rest of the world.
We are grateful to our customers for filling our diary with orders for the next six months. If you are looking to book in a new commission please be aware we are now looking at the second half of the year for any orders of a battalion size (24x 28mm figures or equivalent).

YouTube!
I hope everyone is doing alright in this tumultuous time.
I have launched a YouTube channel. It will contain painting and modelling guides, which I hope will get some people through this time of isolation and distancing. To start with, I have put together some Napoleonic Austrians and discussed options for painting and basing them.
I have added a video to the front page, and I present it here too. Enjoy!

Notice of Price Increases
Dear customers old and new,
Please be aware that from the 1st of May 2020, the cost of commissions are due to increase. This will largely affect miniatures from 20mm to 54mm in size. There are a few reasons for this, including the increasing complexity of construction of kits and the inherent increase in detail seen on the miniatures produced across many ranges. In order not to compromise on the level of detail achieved in our work, it is taking longer to finish our compositions.
Using 28mm infantry as an example: construction of miniatures of more than one piece will increase from £0.50 to £1.00 per model; a Standard Detail Finish from £3.00 to £4.50; a High Detail Finish from £5.00 to £7.00; a Display Detail Finish from £10.00 to £13.00; and basic basing with sand from £0.30 to £0.45.
We also plan to begin offering alternative basing finishes, and are looking at using materials from Luke’s APS at www.geekgaming.co.uk.
If you have been planning a new commission, and would like to take advantage of current prices, then get in contact soon as if you’ve paid a deposit before the 1st of May the commission will be completed at that price, even if we’re not able to start it and complete it by the time of the price rise.
Kind regards,
The team at Culloden Painting Studio
